GOODBYE AND GOOD LUCK!

The month of February has started out with a sad yet happy surprise... Mark has left the building, for good.... moving on to another adventure at the San Fernando Business Journal, where I am sure he will thrive. Yet, I will miss re-arranging his fish every day... even though the question was asked to me by my boss... "is that what we pay you for...?" She was kidding of course when by chance she caught me in the act... just one precious minute of down time in our very busy newsroom.
And who can forget the COOKIES! Mark is the biggest cookie monster of all time.... and I do believe he was getting spoiled with my pretzels toward the end.
We covered an array of assignments together and I will miss him... he is always a great reporter to work with and an all around sweet guy, once you get over his dry humor, which I enjoyed very much.
We had one of our now famous last lunch for him... which included even the sports department's Tully, as well as JB, who can't resist a reason to come by and say hi-good-bye..... as well as getting the latest gossip.
GOOD LUCK MARK! May the sun shine on your byline!

Yes, alas, the days of teasing Mark are over, at least in the newsroom there.
I however have no qualms tracking him down and staying in touch so I will miss him less than you (in a sense).

You might have to romp through the entire office now that Mark has meted out some of his computer top trinkets to the others in the office and mess with their stuff just to stay in touch with that tactile office hyjinx (?).

He leaves a big hole but you will get to meet a whole new round of reporters who will try to fill his shoes. You just have to remember not to get too close because they may not be there that long.

love ya,
jb

Is it morning yet...? I think it is... the sun is glaring in my eyes and on my keyboard. No I won't be hunting down the trinkets that Mark left.. it wouldn't be the same. The older you get the more you find out that people do come and go, and it's a busy big world out there, but with a little luck the feeling always stays the same and is mutual, so that the next time you meet, it's like they never left. "in my life... I've loved them all," comes to mind. People we care about, to one degree or another, they always have a place in my heart anyway.
Love YA!

Photojournalism is my passion, it's an amazing way to see and experience the world. I don't know if what I do will ever have a greater meaning then to fill the pages of daily newspapers. I've seen and felt first hand how important it is to approach the subject of my lense with kindness, respect and honesty. My background is in art and music. If I could express my feelings about life it would be embodied in the song made famous by Louis Armstrong, written by George Weiss and Thiele, "What A Wonderful World."
